About the 2024 "New Prospect on the Paleontological Research in Taiwan"
International Conference

The Cailiao River Basin in Zuojhen District, Tainan City, is rich in fossils and has long been of interest to researchers and amateur fossil enthusiasts both domestically and internationally. The Cailiao River Fossil Group has become an important natural cultural asset and local feature of Tainan City. Tainan Zuojhen Fossil Park is Taiwan's first professional fossil museum, providing a platform for important exhibitions and education on the evolution and migration of ancient mammalian species in Taiwan. It aims to enhance the collection and research of precious fossil artifacts and promote professional cultural preservation and inheritance.

In 2024, it will be the 400th year of Tainan’s entry into the world. To commemorate this important moment, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Tainan City Government plans to organize the "New Prospect Paleontological Research in Taiwan" International Conference. Scholars from various fields, fossil enthusiasts, and young students from both domestic and international areas are invited to participate in this grand event. In this way, we can review the glorious history of paleontological research in Taiwan and its connection with the Cailiao River area in Zuojhen District, Tainan City, and also look forward to the new prospect of paleontological research in Taiwan. At the same time, it is positioned as the "Hometown of Fossils, the Glory of Southern Taiwan—New Prospect on the Paleontological Research in Taiwan " to shape the unique urban characteristics of Tainan and highlight the new context of natural ecology and human history spanning 400,000 years.

Tainan City Museum

Tainan City Museum has collections of more than 5,500 historical materials and cultural relics from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the post-war period, representing the history and culture of Tainan and the life of ordinary people. It is also a museum that creates new cultural values from practices, and for the purpose of being a "museum for Tainan people", it strives to play the public role in creating dialogue space and connecting local communities through participatory mechanisms, enabling different narrative perspectives to be seen, respected and accommodated. In addition, as the hub of Greater Tainan Museum and local cultural centers, it strengthens the operation and management of professional museums, upgrades and integrates various arts and cultural venues, and builds Tainan City into a capital of museum under the brand of "TAINAN ONE".

Tainan Zuojhen Fossil Park

　　The Cailiao River Basin in Zuojhen District, Tainan City, contains rich fossil groups, which have attracted the attention and attention of domestic and foreign researchers and fossil enthusiasts. The Zuojhen fauna has also become an important natural and cultural asset and local feature of Tainan City.
"Tainan Zuojhen Fossil Park" was formerly the "Tainan County Cai Liao Fossil Museum" established in 1981. In 2019, the expansion was completed and includes a natural history education hall, story hall, life evolution hall, fossil hall and exploration hall. A fossil cultural park with multiple functions such as collection, research, display, education, and recreation.

Public Transportation
(1) Bus: Take bus No. 901 and No. 902 to "Tainan Municipal Library (Cambridge Avenue)" to reach the library. Take the bus (green trunk line) to "Zhongxing" station, go southwest to Zhongshan South Road/Province 20 Line, go towards Lane 520, Zhongshan South Road, go straight to Dongqiao 7th Street and turn right, then go straight to Dongqiao 10th Street and turn right, the new headquarters is right there Ahead on the right, about 20 minutes' walk.

(2) Train: Exit the station in front of Daqiao Railway Station. You can walk or rent a U-bike. Go straight along Zhonghua Road towards Yongkang Bridge to Daqiao 2nd Street, turn left, go straight along Daqiao 2nd Street, pass Dongqiao 1st Street, and continue along Dongqiao 10th Street. Go straight and the new main building will be on the right.

(3) High-speed Rail: Get off at Tainan High-Speed Rail Station, transfer to the Sharon Line of the Taiwan Railway to get out of Daqiao Station. You can walk or rent a Ubike. Go straight toward Yongkang Bridge along Zhonghua Road to Daqiao 2nd Street, turn left, and go straight along Daqiao 2nd Street. After passing Dongqiao 1st Street, continue going straight along Dongqiao 10th Street. The new main building will be on the right.

Driving Directions：
south：Go south on National Highway 1 → get off the 319-Yongkang Interchange and head towards Tainan → turn right onto Zhongzheng North Road → turn left onto Zhengnan 3rd Road → go straight to Kangqiao Avenue, the new headquarters will be on the right.
Going north：Go north on National Highway 1 → get off the 319-Yongkang Interchange and head towards Tainan → turn right onto Zhongzheng North Road → turn left onto Zhengnan 3rd Road → go straight to Kangqiao Avenue, the new main building will be in front on the right.
